Melissa Farley

Talk to me about this SOOO unbiased, reasonable, judicious, fair, and balanced individual!!! Melissa Farley, who is a psychologist researcher firmly opposed to the decriminalization of prostitution, has in the past chosen ONLY the forced and the coerced amongst prostitutes for her bigoted interviews. She insists that prostitution is ALWAYS “paid rape.” I go after her bigotry with a chain saw in Book Two, to smite her balderdash reportage, which was written mostly during years past.

BUT NOW Farley’s spewn out ANOTHER biased finding, this time specifically about our very own American-grown ranch-brothels in Nevada. She makes them sound like prisons or cattle ranches.

I’ll agree with any abolitionist that managed prostitution is NOT the way things should be. The ONLY WAY a working girl can guarantee her freedom from exploitation is to totally work for herself. But Farley, as usual, goes bonkers with bias. She’s determined to color prostitution in the grays and blacks of coercion and despair.

You need only take a look at the glowing countenances of the Nevada working girls on HBO’s “Cathouse” series to know that they don’t feel imprisoned or like cattle. Just watch them laughing and talking about how much they love their work!

And Farley’s never done their work! Just who does she think she is….I’m so sick of these people getting academic accolades, all at the sex workers’ expense.

Comments, please!

  1. I would never take anything Farley says seriously unless she workeds as a pro herself, AND tried every way there is to do it, like with or without a pimp.

  2. The barbed wrire fencing that Farley reports about is most likely to keep intruders OUT, NOT to keep the girls IN.

  3. I sure don’t agree with everything Farley says. But a friend had her book and I read it and she gets some things right. It is not right the way the brothel owners in Nevada lord over the working girls. They are pimps and they are the worst kind of pimps. In most of the houses you don’t get to say no if the trick is just too gross. AND in most of them you have to give sex to the brothel owner whenever he says. I worked there for awhile, but it is too much like a prison camp for me. I need more freedom than that. I’m not a cow for christ’s sake! I’m a human being.

  4. I heard this insane woman for the first time tonight on national public radio. I am concerned that rational people will likely ignore her because she is soo “out-there” but in reality she is on a national radio program spewing her rhetoric and alot of people are giving her position consideration!! I think she is a very dangerous voice and anything but a FEMINIST!! I don’t want to quiet her, just hear a valid, intellegent, opposing voice on the shows she is on. I am a housewife and mother of a daughter in college I am a feminist who remembers when a single woman could not own a credit card!! This woman is a twisted, misguided individual who needs to be confronted by WOMAN who disagree with her and will dialog/discuss her point of view on the air.

  5. I totally agree with Melisa. I have worked in the business of assisting prostitutes to get off the streets for 22 years and have never met one who was not traumatized, raped many times and suffering from PTSD to some degree. It is not sex work. Where else in this country do you go to work to be victimized and threatened
